  Care Label Outdoor (SOL F)

Regular Care: Regularly flip and rotate reversible cushions to ensure even wear and to maintain gradual even colour fading. Vacuum regularly using low suction to remove air born dirt particles that may promote mould or mildew. Wipe food spills immediately as residues may stain and potentially attract insects. Protect cushions by regularly brushing away bird droppings and air born particles that can gather in fabric seams and harbour mould and mildew. In winter months extend the life of outdoor upholstery by covering and if possible by storing in an enclosed dry area. Clean before covering and storing to remove surface soiling which may harbour mould in storage. SOLutions fabrics are water resistant, not waterproof. Water-resistant textiles may initially resist water but will ultimately allow water penetration. It is important to cover outdoor furniture when not in use to prevent unnecessary wetting of furniture in the event of unexpected showers. Continuous use and cleaning will diminish the water-resistant finish so re-treatment with a water repellent spray may be necessary over time. Whilst SOLutions fabrics are tested for colourfastness to Australian and International standards, some fading will occur over time. Covering outdoor upholstered furniture in a dry environment when not in use will help to reduce long term colour fading and reduce the need for cleaning.

Cleaning: Spot Cleaning, use a sponge or soft bristle brush with a solution of 1/4 cup 250ml mild laundry detergent per 5 litres of water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. General Cleaning - Do not remove cushion covers for separate cleaning or washing even though they may have zips. Shampoo clean using upholstery shampoo. Do not wet filling. do not scrub with a stiff brush. Allow to air dry. OR Clean with hot water extraction machine (hot). Professional cleaning recommended. Do not saturate the fabric or interior with water or other cleaning liquids. Allow to air dry before re-use. The reapplication of a proprietary brand soil resistant treatment may be necessary after cleaning.

Cleaning mould or mildew, or tougher stains: To remove mould or mildew growth which can occur in moist or humid environments, prepare a solution of 1 cup 250ml of bleach and 1/4 cup of mild laundry detergent per 5 litres of water. Use a misting spray bottle to spray the solution onto the soiled area and allow to soak fabric for 10-15 minutes. Working from the outside of the soiled area inwards, use a sponge or soft bristle brush to work the solution into the fabric, cleaning the entire surface to prevent patchiness. Rinse sponge or soft brush frequently then rinse with clean water to thoroughly remove all residue. Allow to air dry.

WARNING: Sodium Hypochlorite bleach is corrosive. Avoid contact with the skin. Use PVC gloves and follow the safety instructions of the bleach manufacturer. Do not allow bleach to come into contact with furniture frames or floor coverings.
